I don't have my W-2 yet. Can I file with my check stub information?

We strongly recommend against using your last check stub to file. You need information from your W-2 that is not included on your check stub. By using your last check stub to file you may miss out on credits, deductions, etc. In addition, if the information filed does not match the W-2, you will have to file an amended return. You cannot efile without the employers Federal ID provided on the W2.

E-file does not begin until late-January and W-2's are required to be mailed by January 31st in most cases. You can always contact your employer's Human Resources Department to clarify when they mail/deliver your W-2's.
